Thursday night our co worker  arranged a gathering to hear the band Cherry Pie. I am glad I was invited and turned up, because I really enjoyed the performance. I was especially impressed by the diminutive vocalist Jillian Grey who fronts the tight four piece ensemble that delivers an eclectic set list, unencumbered by any particular genre. The theme that this Connecticut shoreline based group delivers on is the moral law of music, raising the spirits of their audience. Ms. Grey's bluesy vocals can transform a restaurant into a beer drenched Texas roadhouse. Her style reminds me of Lou Ann Barton or Marcia Ball. She is a spitfire with a joyous stage presence and her interpretations of classic songs are entertaining and appreciated. The band effortlessly rolled on through rockabilly to covers of standards like "Fever" and "Besame Mucho".  A great performance. I recommend you catch Cherry Pie , I think you will like them a lot.

Cherry pie was indeed delicious! I was very impressed at the very first note I heard. Unfortunately arrived at the Knick way too late to get my fill of pie! Eclectic setlist, talented musicians and Jillian's versatile range also make for the perfect Dance Experience!
